Since its reorganization in June of 1988, Luling Primitive Baptist Church has been served by two pastors, Elder W. R. Daniels, Jr., and Elder Joseph Weyel. We have also been blessed by the ministries of a number of other preachers from the area, and have rejoiced in the preaching of men of God from distant regions as well. Elder Vince Hardy current pastor of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church of Maysfield, Texas was ordained while a member of our congregation, and continues to play an active role in ministering the gospel among us.
With the relocation of Elder Weyel and his family to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Luling Church is in the process of seeking God's direction in the calling of a new pastor. We request the prayers of the faithful as we begin this task and look forward to the opportunity afforded by God's present working among us.
Elder Joseph Weyel:
Elder Joseph Weyel is originally from San Antonio, Texas, where he has lived until May of 2009.
Joseph's relationship with Jesus began when at the age of 5 he experienced the loss of his older brother to cancer. Through a number of experiences God manifested His sovereignty and love in ways that reached the heart and mind of a small child long before the preached word had meaning.
In the summer of 1985, the gospel became meaningful as Joseph received for the first time the preached word in a message entitled, "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good." From that time, the preaching of the gospel and congregational worship became dear to Joseph. In 1986, upon profession of faith, he followed the Lord in baptism .
Joseph began exercising in the ministry in 1991, and was ordained to the gospel ministry at Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in September of 2003. Since that time, he has been engaged in preaching the gospel in San Antonio and the surrounding area assisting pastors and congregations in need. Joseph's desire is to present the life changing truth that he has experienced in a fresh and meaningful way through Spirit directed preaching and Christian ministry.
In November of 1999, Joseph was blessed to be united in marriage to Rachel. Together they have received the blessing of 4 children, Beth, Emily, Jeremiah, and William. They are committed to bringing up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord while setting an example of love and family devotion which will honor Jesus Christ.
In January 2007, Elder Weyel began serving as pastor of Luling Primitive Baptist Church during which time the Lord opened the door of ministry to Vietnam, and later to Cambodia.
In January 2009, Joseph and Rachel committed to relocate their family to Siem Reap, Cambodia in an effort to assist in the ministry of the Word among the native Khmer Christians and to coordinate the supply of materials and finances for orphanages and humanitarian projects around Siem Reap and Kampong Thom provinces.

Elder W.R. Daniels:
Elder Daniels served Luling Primitive Baptist Church as pastor from its constitution in 1988 until January, 2007. He is a native of Luling, Texas who has devoted his life to the ministry of the gospel in this and surrounding communities as well as preaching the gospel throughout the United States and Philippines.
Brother Daniels was ordained to the gospel ministry in October of 1959 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church (McMahan, Texas) where he served as pastor from 1960 until 1988.
Elder Daniels has been especially effective in assisting younger preachers and is considered a "father" in the ministry by many current pastors in and around Texas.
Since experiencing a stroke in 2005, Elder Daniels has been forced to limit his preaching and active ministry significantly, however, he continues to fill a vital role in the day to day ministry of Luling Church and is a valuable asset to our worship and service.
